Workshop: Facilitator Skills Development:
Attending to Problematic Race Talk
Workshop Description: This workshop explores how to loosen racialized certainties and create space for more reflective, antiracist dialogue. Drawing from readings, videos, practice exercises, and theories of change, participants will learn tools to deflect defensiveness, re-channel harmful statements, and deepen critical thinking.
Participants Will:

Learn and practice effective facilitation skills for navigating race-related conversations

Learn “perceiving and responding” and trust-building skills

Learn and apply 14 speech patterns to deepen reflective, critical thinking

Identify, analyze, and challenge what may be problematic in a person’s beliefs, values, and worldview

Support greater awareness and understanding of how race talk can cause harm
Dates: 5 Weeks | Wednesdays: April 15, 22, 29 & May 6, 13 - 6:00-9:00 PM via Zoom
